Max Schieble is a San Francisco-based creative director, illustrator, designer, and 2D animator, specializing in cross-medium storytelling and developing interdisciplinary design solutions that weave through music, visual art, and text. He has worked with Ogilvy, Tribeca Film Festival, Complex Media, PINTRILL, and artists from Atlantic Records, Epic Records, and independent musicians to create brand identities, campaigns, album artwork, packaging, promotional material, and music videos. He graduated from NYU’s Gallatin School with a degree in multimedia narrative studies, a concentration that focused on the interconnectivity of storytelling between visual arts, writing, and music.
In 2021 Schieble unveiled his own cross-medium project, Tales From The Old Mill, an expansive audio-visual project comprised of 59-minute album, an 18-minute short film, and a 30-page illustrated lyric book. The full project saw Schieble fill the roles of artist, composer, producer, director, illustrator, designer, and more. The album portion of Tales From The Old Mill was released by EveryDejaVu Records, and the companion film, Winterlude, premiered in 2022 at the Snow Town Film Festival, and also aired on WPBS. Schieble has appeared live with Grammy Award winner Natalia Lafourcade, Nick Hakim, BENEE, L’Rain, and others, and has performed throughout North America.
His first solo exhibit, At The Bottom Of The Well, opened at Brooklyn’s IMAGE Gallery in 2016. The two-month installation featured large-scale canvases, screen prints, and original drawings, all displaying Schieble’s vibrantly surreal aesthetic of multi-faces, legged-furniture, and dotted limbs. An original score accompanied the exhibit. His work has also appeared in Chelsea's Lyons Wier gallery, on notable music sites such as The FADER, Pigeons & Planes, and Bandcamp, and in print in Quiet Lunch Magazine.
